In just three days time, Arsenal will host Leicester City in the 2017/18 season opening fixture. Finally an eventful offseason is starting to come to an end and teams can start to focus on the season. With new transfer news coming just about every day, the premier league welcomed some of the world’s greatest players such as Alexandre Lacazette, Mohamed Salah, and Alvaro Morata. The 2017/18 season is expected to be one of the most competitive in league history with such talented rosters across the entire league. Here are the top five teams in the premier league going into the season.

#5 Arsenal

The Gunners are coming into the season extremely pleased after retaining both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Arsenal is already off to a hot start after winning the community shield in pens against last year’s premier league winners, Chelsea. Arsenal added the electric scorer, Alexandre Lacazette from OL-Lyon. The combination of Lacazette’s scoring ability, Ozil’s control of the midfield, and Sanchez’s explosive wing play, will see the Gunner’s finish with a top five position and spot in Europa League competition.

#4 Liverpool

For a long time coming Liverpool has been given high expectations which has only been met with disappointment and frustration. Liverpool added the Egyptian speedster Mohamed Salah and despite the expected departure of Philipe Coutinho, they are still predicted to finish with a champions league position. With such a dominant midfield consisting of Wijnaldum, Lallana, Can, and Henderson, Liverpool will look to control the pace of play and ultimately get behind defenses with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino.

#3 Tottenham

Led by their golden boot winning forward Harry Kane, the Spurs will need his success in order to compete this season. Their midfield is coming into the season more experienced and continue to make plays led by Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen. Tottenham will need strong defense from their wings after losing Kyle Walker to Manchester City and Kieran Trippier struggling in preseason play. Their ability to score using Kane and the midfield will be vital to the teams future success.

The Red Devils are arguably the most talented team in the entire league. Their offseason acquisition of Romelu Lukaku from Everton has already started to show that he has been worth the heavy price Manchester paid. The combination of outside speed from Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan along with strong defending from Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly will take the Red Devils back to a spot they’re used to being.
