What a great week for fantasy Premier League as we saw many outstanding individual performances such as Sergio Aguero’s hat trick, Neil Ethridge’s second consecutive clean sheet and saved penalty, and multiple two point games from the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Theo Walcott, and Troy Deeney. With another great lineup of fixtures set to kickoff Saturday morning, here are the players you should look to transfer into your team.
Defenders:
Manchester City has begun the new season in the same form as they left last year’s. Unfortunately, an injury sidelined Benjamin Mendy for the majority of their championship campaign last year but he’s back and proving to be Pep’s go to outside back. Their matchup against Wolverhampton this weekend gives each City defender a favorable matchup, look out for players such as John Stones, Benjamin Mendy, Aymeric Laporte, and Kyle Walker. Another fixture that presents a lot of points from defenders is Arsenal taking on West Ham. The Gunners have started the season with back to back matchups against strong sides, Chelsea and Man City. Now they get a weaker opponent, at home, that could potentially be a clean sheet for Arsenal. Petr Cech has started the season for Arsenal but over this past transfer window, the Gunners brought in Bernd Leno from Bayern Leverkusen, its hard to speculate when one will player over the other. Good Arsenal defenders with easy fixtures lying ahead include, Hector Bellerin, Stephan Lichtsteiner, and Nacho Monreal.
Midfielders:
As for the main part of most teams, there are a lot of premium and budget players that should have 4+ point weeks. Currently flying under a lot of fantasy manager’s radars has been Bournemouth midfielder, Ryan Fraser. Fraser is off to a great start this season with a goal and an assist in two games. Bournemouth welcome Everton this week and I expect Fraser will perform well against a stronger side. Another budget selection is Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon. Fulham will take on Burnley, at home, a great matchup that presents a lot of opportunity for plenty of goals to be scored. With that being said, Sessegnon is a big part of the Fulham offense and should create plenty of chances against a weak Burnley defense. So far this season, Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard has had two great showings. This weekend, the Blues will travel to St. James Park to take on Newcastle, a fixture that creates great opportunity for Chelsea midfielders such as Hazard, Willian, and Pedro.
Forwards:
Despite getting older by the season, Sergio Aguero has proved most of his critics wrong this season as he scored three of Man City’s six goals last weekend. City will take on Wolves which should give the dynamic Manchester attack plenty of results, try and snag the likes of Aguero and Gabriel Jesus. This past transfer window saw many notable singings such as Cenk Tosun joining Everton. With an upcoming match against Bournemouth, I think he’ll be able to score his first goal for the club en route to a victory for Everton. Lastly, another player that has been playing very strong to begin the 2018 season has been Watford’s Troy Deeney. His Watford side will take on a weaker Crystal Palace defense without Wan-Bissaka.
