It’s official as confirmed today by the NBA, Jimmy Buckets is now a Philadelphia 76er. Newly installed GM and former Sixer Elton Brand earns his first big time managerial move with the trade for Butler and oh it’s a blockbuster move. The deal included Dario Saric, Robert Covington, Jerryd Bayless, and a 2022 second round pick in exchange for Jimmy Butler and Justin Patton. From an emotional perspective, this deal breaks my heart. She-She and RoCo were core members of the process that will never be forgotten and it’s because of them that the Sixers are in the position they are now. From Dario’s diving tip pass to Ben or Cov’s game-winner against Portland in 2016, these guys played their hearts out every night and truly made an impact. I’m not even going to mention Jerryd Bayless because there is honestly nothing worth mentioning with him.
On the other hand, WE HAVE A BIG THREE IN PHILADELPHIA. Jimmy Butler is exactly what the Sixers needed because he is able to pose a threat on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. In simpler terms, he is just a straight up baller. He has a gritty attitude, a relentless drive to win, and most importantly the dude can score from anywhere on the court giving the Sixers the shot creator that they desperately needed(what Fultz should be right now).
With this new acquisition, I think the Sixers trump the Raptors as the second best team in the east and inch closer to Boston. This trade acts as a great “jolt” this team which should lead to success going forward. #TTP
