Hungry. Dogs. Continue. to. Run. FASTER. The Eagles come into Mercedes-Benz Superdome facing the #1 seed New Orleans Saints. The Saints are currently favored by 8 points and the line for the overall game is 52. Foles playoff magic is alive and well in the City of Brotherly Love but they face a tough challenge as they head into New Orleans, home of the super bowl favorite Saints.
When the Eagles previously played the Saints they got walloped by 41 points with Carson Wentz throwing three interceptions. However now Nicky Six is at the helm and the overall team including the secondary, a previous weak point, has been really stepping up to the plate.
This writer believes this game will be a shootout as both teams have high-powered offenses with plenty of perimeter threats. The Saints, however, do have a strong running attack led by Alvin Kamara which could bring eagles trouble especially on screen and sweep plays where they have struggled. Expect this game to be very similar to Super Bowl 52 in where there is little defense, constant offense, and great QB play. This game will come down to possession time(a category in which the Eagles lead the NFL) and 1 or 2 crucial plays that will ultimately determine the outcome.
The key matchup in this game will be Drew Brees, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, versus Nick Foles, a Super Bowl MVP who seems to play his best games when he’s needed most. The duel between clutch quarterbacks will, ironically, be decided by what quarterback fails in the clutch. As much as I want to take my birds in this spot to beat the Saints, it’s nearly impossible to win a game in New Orleans in a playoff situation. The Saints a close game. Prediction– Saints 32-28
