Phils Complete the Sweep with Bryce Harper “Heating Up”

The Sixers sting is still there but it’s now baseball season as the summer heat takes hold. The Phillies are currently 1st in the NL East and have the second best overall record in the National League. The Phils have been able to overcome the recent struggles of the $330 million dollar man, Bryce Harper, ranking 7th as a team in total runs.

However, this past series against the Colorado Rockies seemed to provide Bryce Harper with the spark he needed to get his bat going again. A couple days ago Harper sent his 466 foot bomb so far into center field that it hit Ashburn Alley, causing Phillies play by play, Tom McCarthy, to exclaim “that could be one of the longest home runs at Citizens Bank Park”.

After JT Realmuto tied the game at 5 in the sixth inning with a two run shot of his own, Harper followed it up with a two run shot into the bullpen in the sixth inning that ultimately clinched the Phillies 7-5 victory, therefore completing the sweep against the Rockies, a formidable NL opponent. Harper is currently batting .417 with two homers and six RBIs in his last three games. Hopefully, this is a sign of future hitting success for Harper as before this past game he had struck out 13 times in an 8 game stretch while batting at an abysmal average of .148.

With Harper and a beyond capable supporting cast of absolute ballers like Jean Segura, JT Realmuto, and Rhys Hoskins, expect the Phillies to continue their recent success even as they face the red hot Chicago Cubs tonight at 5:20.
