Football. Is. Almost. Here.
As summer comes to a close and fall right around the corner, it is almost impossible to NOT think about football. With training camp starting for the Eagles and their first preseason game coming up on Thursday, we’re going to take a deep dive into the future and predict how 2019 will fare for the Eagles.
Week 1 vs Washington Redskins
To begin the season the Eagles go up against NFC East rival in the Skins. Although I really liked Washington’s draft this year especially with the acquisition of Dwayne Haskins, their is still too much organizational instability. With Jay Gruden on the hot seat, I think the Redskins are on their way but not quite there. Especially with the game being the Linc, there’s no way the Eagles lose this game.
Eagles Win 1-0
Week 2 @ Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons disappointing 7-9 season last year looks to be avenged as they go against the Eagles in a crucial game at home. Doug Pederson is undefeated against Atlanta but their last matchup came down to a another goal line stand and I see that happening again this year on the road.
Eagles Win 2-0
Week 3 vs Detroit Lions
The last time these teams faced off the Eagles experienced a heartbreaking loss in Carson Wentz’s rookie season. Now ,however, the Eagles are too talented to lose to the freaking Detroit Lions at home. They will continue their hot streak.
Eagles win 3-0
Week 4 at Green Bay Packers
Two things. Aaron Rodgers and Lambeau Field. I’m having a hard time believing the Eagles relatively unproven secondary will fare well against Aaron Rodgers with a much improved defense, which has been their weakness over the past couple years. Eagles get their first loss.
Eagles lose 3-1
Week 5 vs New York Jets
After a loss in Green Bay, the Eagles return home to face a revamped New York Jets. Although I like the young talent they’ve surrounded Sam Darnold with, their weaker offensive line will not be able to handle the Eagles’ defensive pressure.
Eagles win 4-1
Week 6 at Minnesota Vikings
Simply put, the Eagles have the Vikings number and although it may be a hostile environment in U.S. Bank stadium considering how Vikings fans thought they were treated unfairly in the 2017 NFC Championship game, the Eagles will win once again
Eagles win 5-1
Week 7 at Dallas Cowboys
This could potentially be a tough game for the Eagles despite being the more talented roster. One, they’re in the middle of a three game road trip so they may be fatigued and second, they have not had much success in Jerry World. I think the Birds lose a close one on the road.
Eagles lose 5-2
Week 8 at Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen has yet to prove himself as a viable starting quarterback and I think Shady, particularly in this game, will really miss being in Philadelphia. Eagles win in a blowout
Eagles win 6-2
Week 9 vs Chicago Bears
Double Doink and Jordan Howard revenge game? You betcha. The Bears come into the linc with one of the best defense in the NFL and a chip on their soldier and I see them winning a very low scoring game.
Eagles lose 6-3
Week 11 vs. New England Patriots
The Superbowl rematch that all of Philadelphia has been waiting for is happening week 11. The Eagles will come out of the bye ready to avenge their previous loss and will look sharp and prepared to beat Tommy Timeless.
Eagles win 7-3
Week 12 vs Seattle Seahawks
Russell Wilson, the highest paid QB in NFL history will come into two with a ragged offensive line and a depleted defense. I love Russell Wilson but the lack of talent around him, especially on the offensive line, will give the Eagles defense a chance to dominate
Eagles win 8-3
Week 13 at Miami Dolphins
Who knows if it will be Fitzpatrick or Josh Rosen starting this game but regardless the Dolphins are a rebuilding team that is no match for an overpowering Eagles roster
Eagles win 9-3
Week 14 vs New York Giants
In my opinion, the Giants will undoubtedly be the worst team in the division and one of the worst teams in the league with Saquon Barkley being the only player they can hang their hat on after making some horrendous offseason/draft moves. Eagles win by a lot.
Eagles win 10-3
Week 15 at Washington Redskins
By this point in the season Haskins should have really developed into his role as starting QB and I think the offense will be clicking a little as the Skins look for a wild card spot. On this day, they will be more hungry than the Eagles and split the season series.
Eagles lose 10-4
Week 16 vs Dallas Cowboys
A possible division altering game as the two frontrunners of the NFC East battle it out in the Linc. The Eagles will have their away loss earlier in the season on their minds as they take the field, providing much needed energy. I think the Eagles win big here.
Eagles win 11-4
Week 17 at New York Giants
By this point the Eagles should clinch the division and a playoff spot so they’ll probably rest their starters in this game. While end of the year Giants games are usually killer for the Eagles, I think the Giants are too abysmal of a team to win this game. Eagles win and clinch the number one seed in the NFC.
Eagles win 12-4
